PLG client and Norwich City forward, Onel Hernández last night made his international debut in a landmark occasion for Cuba as they kicked off their World Cup Qualifying campaign against Guatemala. The game marked the first time that Cuba had called up professional players who reside outside of the country. It was a proud moment for Hernández, who was born in Cuba and moved to Germany as a child. He became the first Cuban to play in the Premier League in August 2019, also becoming the first Cuban to score in the Premier League after scoring against Manchester United later that season.
Travel issues meant Hernández could only appear as a substitute as 10 man Cuba lost 1-0 but he will look forward to the possibility of making his first start for his country as Cuba face Curacao on Sunday.
