Born and raised in Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold joined Liverpool's academy in 2004 and later captained the club at various youth levels. He made his senior debut in 2016 at 18 and has gone on to be key part in Liverpool's team. Trent won Liverpool's young player of the season award in both 2017 and 2018 where he also became the youngest player from the club to start in a UEFA Champions League final. In the following season, he was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, named in the PFA Team of the Year and Champions League Squad of the Season as Liverpool won the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League. Trent earned another two medals in the early stages of the 2019/20 season, winning the UEFA Super Cup as well as helping Liverpool lift the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in their history. In December 2019 he won his first ever Premier League player of the month award, later in that season winning the Premier League while winning the league's Young Player of the Year award.
Alexander-Arnold has also represented England at various youth levels and made his senior debut in 2018. He featured at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he became only the fourth teenager to start a match for England in the tournament as he helped them reach the semi-finals for the first time since 1990.
